well, it’s only been a few months right??! apologies for the absence! animal & i have fully neglected diamondcats due to a busy summer filled with heat waves, friends, family & love. but dry those tears diamondcats, we are back! the last time we were acquainted it was just about to be one of the hottest summers i remember here in so cal. i was platinum blonde & had just begun the room re-vamp. officially out of my heat coma, FALL IS HERE!
platinum no more. a more toned down blonde for fall. my grandma, jojo will be so happy!
i’m slowly but surely making progress on the room! a rug from ikea adds a fun pattern. a new/old mid century dresser i found from a local re-saler is perfect for my space. & some basic sheers give just enough privacy and let in light.
my new obsession! a brass bird i found from a thrift store. the best $10 to add a quirky accent to the dresser.
i’ve had my eye on a lamp from west elm for months to put on my bed side tables & found a similar one from target for half the price! nothing like a good deal to put a smile on animal’s face.
and lastly, i have to keep my feet warm! my fall slippers from target.
these last few weeks have been crazy! on top of my regular busy life animal and i decided it was time for a fresh new look in my room. when i moved into my apartment 4 1/2 years ago, my room was my go to project. i was inspired by images of the graduate with deep green velvet curtains, gold accents & stripes on the wall. instead of painting i found some fabulous black striped decals that were displayed on half of the room’s walls. it was an amazing space that inspired some great photo shoots & became the back drop with my gal pals over at lynn’s rags & tangerine tree photography. but as time moves forward so does age & taste. the ikea & thrift store furniture had played it’s part & it’s time to move on! i knew i wanted a completely different look & decided to paint & start fresh. this is going to be a work in progress but i think i’m off to a great start!
a glimpse at the before with the wall decals.
the new wall color. “evening eclipse” from valspar.
decals can be a quite misleading when it comes to being safe for the paint underneath. it ripped up quite a few spots so there was a lot of prep work of sanding and smoothing it all out.
it’s a whole new feel! the color is a fun pop that acts as a universal complimentary color. and with the new accents i’m on my way to a whole new modern space.
an eccentric pillow that has inspired the whole feel.
a new mid century inspired night stand from west elm is the perfect start to a set of grown up furniture.
animal is exhausted from all the hard work. a nap in the sun will re charge him for the next project.
this weekend in san diego was gorgeous. it was filled with fun, family and pretty things.
a gorgeous view from lunch at george’s with my mom & her long time best gal pal, pat. (& when i say long, i mean since they were 11!)
an incredible ring i got from my grandmother filled with sparkling sapphires, which just so happens to be my birth stone. it’s the perfect addition to any outfit for sentimental sass!
how artsy! a chalk drawing work in progress at the the rose wine pub in south park. i couldn’t resist. i frightened the artist with my voyeur paparazzi tactics, but he quickly forgave me.
& lastly a little tray of trinkets in my bathroom that add character & a girly touch. an arrangement with lemons lining the mason jar for a fresh accent, a cameo thrift store find, an ikea vase filled with scent sticks, a jewelry holder from target, & a couple of gifts from anthropologie all atop a jonathan adler ceramic tray.
